Cutting it Straight

Cutting It Straight is a two-part training seminar, consisting of three levels. These seminars are designed to help those within Grace Community Church to develop their personal hermeneutical (interpreting scripture) as well as homiletical (teaching scripture) skills. Being able to clearly understand and present the inspired truths of the Bible is essential in the life of every Christian. Learning how to study and interpret the scripture should be a priority in the life of the believer in order that he/she may be equipped to accurately handle the Word of truth (II Timothy 2:15, 3:15-17).

 

Level One – How to Study the Bible

This level is designed to take students to the next level in understanding how to accurately interpret Scripture. It assumes that the student already possesses a basic understanding of how to study God’s Word but would benefit from help in clarifying this understanding and sharpening his skills.

 

Level Two – How to Prepare a Message

This level is designed to equip the student to move from an accurate interpretation to an effective communication of the text of Scripture. It assumes that the student has a clear understanding of how to interpret the Bible, and it focuses on how to develop or prepare a biblical message.

 

Level Three – How to Deliver a Message

This level is designed to equip the student to effectively deliver a message from the Scriptures. Although the two levels will overlap to some extent, level 2 focuses on the preparation of the message, and level 3 focuses on the proclamation of the message.
